Moov Lite and Moov Pro vs the Xteink X4 Pro: screen size, sharpness, front light, charging, battery, size, firmware, water resistance and price, with sources.

By IKAWE · Published · 11 min read

Written by IKAWE, the maker of Moov. Moov specifications are IKAWE's own. We haven't tested the Xteink readers hands-on: their specifications come from Xteink's product pages and independent reviews, checked on 12 October 2026 and listed under Sources.

Key takeaways

  • IKAWE Moov (110 × 66 × 6 mm, 75 g) is 1 mm shorter and 3 mm narrower than the Xteink X4 Pro (111 × 69 × 5.95 mm, 72 g), yet has a larger 4.5-inch screen against 4.3 inches.
  • Both have a warm/cool front light, a touchscreen, side page-turn buttons, a 1,100 mAh battery and CrossPoint firmware.
  • The biggest practical difference is charging: Moov uses a standard USB-C port with a cable in the box; the X4 Pro charges through pogo pins and a small magnetic adapter that reviewers find easy to lose.
  • Moov Lite vs X4 Pro: the same 219 PPI and the same $99 price; Moov Lite has the larger screen, the smaller body and USB-C.
  • Moov Pro vs X4 Pro: for $129, Moov Pro adds a 300 PPI screen, IPX8 water resistance and enhanced PDF reflow. The X4 Pro has no water rating.

IKAWE Moov vs Xteink X4 Pro specifications. X4 Pro values from Xteink's product page and the reviews under Sources, checked on 12 October 2026.

Size and weight: smaller body, bigger screen

Moov's footprint is slightly smaller than the X4 Pro's: 1 mm shorter and 3 mm narrower, at 110 × 66 × 6 mm. Thickness is effectively the same (6 vs 5.95 mm), and Moov is 3 g heavier at 75 g. In a pocket or hand you won't notice the weight difference; you may notice the narrower body, which is easier to wrap one hand around.

Screen sizeHigher is better

Screen: size and sharpness

Moov's 4.5-inch screen is 0.2 inches larger diagonally than the X4 Pro's 4.3 inches (TechCrunch measured the X4 Pro at 4.26 inches). On a pocket reader that's meaningful: more words per line and more lines per page mean fewer page turns, especially at larger font sizes.

Moov Lite and the X4 Pro share the same 219 PPI pixel density. That's fine for most reading, but it's the X4 Pro's most common screen criticism: one Lifehacker reviewer found its text less crisp than on Xteink's sharper X3. Moov Pro's 300 PPI, the density of a Kindle Paperwhite, draws noticeably smoother letters at small sizes.

Front light

Both have a warm/cool front light with adjustable brightness, so you can read in the dark and shift to a warmer tone at night. This is what separates both readers from the cheaper, light-free Xteink X4 Classic and X3.

Reviewers have flagged two quirks on the X4 Pro: TechCrunch found its lowest light setting still too bright for a dark bedroom, and some owners report the light switching off between page turns on Xteink's stock firmware. On Moov, brightness and warmth are adjusted independently in CrossPoint.

Touchscreen and buttons

Both combine a touchscreen with physical page-turn buttons, so you can tap or press. The X4 Pro has two side page-turn buttons and a capacitive Home key; Moov has left and right page-turn buttons on its sides and keeps the front clean.

Physical buttons matter more than they sound on a pocket reader: they let you turn pages one-handed without moving your thumb across the screen, and they work with gloves.

Charging and connectivity: USB-C vs pogo pins

This is the biggest everyday difference. The X4 Pro charges through pogo pins on its back. To use a normal cable you clip on a small magnetic adapter that turns the pins into a USB-C socket, and no cable comes in the box. Stark Insider noted the adapter is easy to lose, and Lifehacker reported the connection coming loose without warning. The adapter also carries USB file transfer.

Moov has a standard USB-C port for both charging and file transfer, and a USB-C cable in the box. Any phone charger works, with nothing extra to carry or lose.

Both have 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, used for wireless book transfers and updates.

Battery

Both have a 1,100 mAh battery, the largest of Xteink's CrossPoint readers. Xteink doesn't publish an official battery-life figure for the X4 Pro; TechCrunch reported 60% remaining after about three weeks of reading on most days. Battery life on either reader depends mostly on how bright you run the front light and how much you use Wi-Fi.

Software: both run CrossPoint

CrossPoint is the open-source reading firmware behind both readers. On the X4 Pro it's an optional install that most owners make; Stark Insider calls it close to mandatory, because Xteink's own firmware is more limited. CrossPoint has officially supported the X4 Pro since version 1.6.0 (5 September 2026), and 1.6.5 added TTF font support. Moov runs CrossPoint out of the box.

A note if you buy an X4 Pro: Xteink says units from its own store and Amazon aren't locked against custom firmware, but some readers sold through other channels have been, which makes installing CrossPoint harder.

CrossPoint gives both readers the same core features: EPUB with hyphenation and footnotes, bookmarks, dictionaries, custom fonts, Wi-Fi and Calibre transfers, OPDS catalogues, KOReader progress sync and over-the-air updates.

Books and formats

Both read DRM-free EPUB and TXT. Moov Pro adds enhanced PDF reflow and text formatting. Xteink's own pages disagree on the X4 Pro's formats: its product page lists EPUB, TXT, JPG and BMP, while an Xteink blog post also mentions MOBI and PDF, so check before relying on either.

Neither opens DRM-protected Kindle purchases or Libby loans. Free public-domain sources such as Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks, and DRM-free stores, work on both.

Water resistance

Moov Pro is rated IPX8, tested for immersion beyond 1 metre, so it can come to the pool or the bath. Xteink doesn't list any water-resistance rating for the X4 Pro, and neither is Moov Lite rated, so keep both of those dry. More in is the Xteink waterproof?

Magnets and phone fit

Both have magnetic backs that attach to MagSafe-style phone cases and magnetic surfaces. Android Police found the X4 Pro sits well only on large Pro Max or Ultra phones. Moov's narrower 66 mm body helps, and two adhesive metal rings come in the box for phones and cases without magnets.

Price and value

The X4 Pro costs $99 on sale or $109 at full price from Xteink, and Gizmodo spotted it at $84 on Amazon on 9 October 2026; it also sells out often. Moov Lite costs $99 and Moov Pro $129.

At $99, Moov Lite matches the X4 Pro's sale price and adds the larger screen, the smaller body and USB-C with a cable. Moov Pro's extra $30 buys the 300 PPI screen, IPX8 and PDF reflow.
